     Thomas graduated law at William & Mary College; He married and went to live in
Washington DC, but found it hard to find legal work, tried to buy into a new
newspaper. He became an attorney-at-law and lived on his plantation near
Lynchburg;

Williamsburg, he spent the night at the home of John Christian, there meeting
John's daughter Elizabeth; They were married 3 years later;
